In March of 2008 I had the wonderful opportunity to meet our beloved former Mayor Ronnie Cobb. He stopped by our house on the corner of Stuart Drive and Battlewood Drive in Fort Oglethorpe on the 23rd of March. I remember the date vividly because it was my wife’s birthday. We were right in the middle of her party when he stopped by. I talked to Mayor Cobb that night about the road project they were working on to extend Stuart Road through to City Hall Drive. We really hit it off and consequently developed a friendship. It wasn’t long before Mayor Cobb started talking to me about getting more involved in the city and shared with me his vision that I run for City Council. In 2010, through his encouragement, I accepted a nomination to serve as a director on the Fort Oglethorpe Downtown Development Authority. We were all devastated and shocked by his passing and the City of Fort Oglethorpe lost one of its great citizens. Since his death, I have repeatedly been encouraged by people all over Fort Oglethorpe to honor his wish and run for City Council. So, it is with a humble heart and a spirit of genuine respect for this wonderful city that I place my hat in the race for Fort Oglethorpe City Council 2011. I would appreciate your vote!
